Tennis season starts at New Year's Day with ATP Cup in Sydney

From 1 to 9 January 2022, the ATP Cup will take place in Sydney, as the Australian Tennis Association announced on Thursday. The Team Competition also participates in the German team around Olympic champion Alexander Zeal.

On the way to the Australian Open there is a lot of tennis in the Australian summer. For the ladies in the first January week, three tournaments in Adelaide and Melbourne are on the program. For the men, there are two more events in Adelaide and Melbourne parallel to the ATP Cup.

In the week before the Australian Open are then two tournaments in the gentlemen and the ladies in Sydney and Adelaide planned before the Australian Open starts on January 17 in Melbourne.

Players traveling to Australia at the beginning of the new year must be vaccinated. Therefore, there is a question mark for the participation of Novak Djokovic. The Serbian World Candy list First has left his vaccination status so far open.

Djokovic has already won the Australian Open nine times. He would pile his 21st Grand Slam title in Melbourne and thus be the sole record winner at the four most important tournaments.
