BAD NEWS For Nintendo Switch OLED Model?!

A new console with great display, but without 60fps and other power upgrades? We looked at what the new "Nintendo Switch OLED model" can do so.

Finally! The Japanese Developer, Publisher and Hardware Manufacturer Nintendo has announced a new "Nintendo Switch". The expectations of the fans could hardly be bigger: Maybe we can soon play "Monster Hunter" and Co. in 4K?! That would be really cool - unfortunately such wishes were suffocated from the company in the announcement quite fast in the germ. In the new product, the Group does not focus on technical improvements in the form of new power or performance: here are exceptionally the outer values.

A White Nintendo Switch OLED

We followed the invitation of Nintendo a few days ago and tried the "Nintendo Switch Oled" itself. And what should we say: she looks fantastic. Alone the new color "white" in which she will be available is classic and fits in pretty much every setup style.

As the name suggests, the upcoming "Nintendo Switch OLED" has a corresponding OLED display, with which the colors come even more beautiful, contrasting and stronger. To really test that, we tried a total of three games. At "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" we were at first a bit disappointed: so dreamy and beautifully the game is - as a reference for the new screen it is more likely.

Luckily, Nintendo has many in-house hits that explode in front of colors. At the very beginning: "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe"! This game is the perfect choice to demonstrate all the advantages of the new OLED display clearly. If you have dangered with Luigi, Peach and Co over the rainbow bridge, that was already Always a real color explosion. On the new display, the explosions and effects ray more strongly, because everything is now brighter and contrasting. In numbers expressed in numbers: Thanks to a pixel density of 209 ppi, the colors jump in the eye.

larger screen

So that you can really enjoy the new brilliance, the screen has become bigger at the "Nintendo Switch OLED": the new model that appears on October 8th of October 2021 is looking forward to a 7 inch screen. So far you have gottied to 6.2 inches. The difference in size may not sound too extensive, but in a direct comparison, he falls significantly. In addition, the black edge has been significantly reduced - so you just dive again much better to the action on the screen.

The OLED screen is a great supplement - but only for fans who use their console on the go. Whoever has always connected to the TV screen, will not notice anything from the optical improvement thanks to OLED technology. While there are smaller quality-of-life features, such as a LAN connection in the charging station and optical beautifications, but you do not have much more than living room gamers from the console. Only the 64 GB of internal memory is also useful here - but do not really justify the purchase of a new console.

Who has the console regularly with, of course knows the typical advantages - especially when traveling! On the train quickly a round "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" and in the plane completely destroy the seat neighbors in "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" completely: Since you always have two controllers with the "Nintendo Switch", it is also two of the perfect pastime. In order to offer the players more here, Nintendo has worked on small but fine details. This includes, for example, the improvement of the internal speakers, which should now be a bit louder and something clearer. However, we could not listen out a really massive difference during the first time.

infinitely adjustable stand

The original Nintendo Switch has a small stand on the back, which focuses on the console in table mode more or less. On the other hand, the "Nintendo Switch OLED" has a large stand that can be steplessly adjusted to adapt the optimal inclination of your needs. That may sound like a rather unimportant innovation, in our "hands on" session, this was amazingly useful. So you can put them so that no one gets a naccination while watching and playing.

Worth the purchase of the "Nintendo Switch OLED"?

Buy or not buy - this is definitely the question! We are a bit of split opinion. The new display returns the colors in an insane brilliance and it's just fun to play on the larger display. However, it is only worthwhile if you do the switch regularly. Who only plays at home on the TV screen anyway, can actually save the new purchase. Unless one has fallen in love with the new color as we - as we do and look forward to the meaningful little things. That the compartment at the docking station is finally completely removable and has a LAN connection, is quite practical. Pre-order the Nintendo Switch (OLED) now!
