2K indicates that more information will be communicated about WWE 2K22 in January 2022. For yes, size surprise for long-standing fans of the series, the game will not be released in autumn 2021. Indeed, 2K announced that WWE 2K22 will be marketed in March 2022 during the wrestlemania Season .
And to believe new corridor noises, it seems that several topics mentioned above, like the rostrum of the game and the release date of the latter, be at the heart of a more and more important discord between 2k and the WWE.
An involuntarily retro roster?
Since it was possible to predict, the disastrous WWE 2K20 would have seriously damaged the working relationship between WWE and 2K22. This is what the Sports Gaming Online (SGO) website affirms, citing multiple sources within 2k sports, Visual Concepts (WWE 2K22 developer), and AU DELà. And according to the American site, the quality for the least problematic of WWE 2K20 would have been the starting point for a series of disagreements between the two camps.
The first point of Concord would concern the release date of WWE 2K22. According to the information gleaned by SGO, the two camps do not agree on this subject since the announcement of the game. The company directed by Vince McMahon would have desired that WWE 2K22 sorts to the usual exit period of the series (L 'autumn) while 2k and Visual concepts hardly wanted the CATCH simulation to be marketed later.
If these months of additional development finally obtained by the publisher and his studio obviously give them more time to improve the quality of the game, this need of an extra time is also linked to the roster of the game. Indeed, a source SGO says that at present, WWE 2K22 is well part of having the _roster the most obsolete in the history of the _ series.
Why ? Simply because of the very many waste cautchers and catchers made by the WWE during the past year. Visual Concepts would have spent a lot of time scanning the WWE superstars and create new in-game models of these last. The problem is that many of them correspond to personalities that are no longer part of the WWE.
According to SGO, it is expected that WWE 2K22 to embody many wrestlers and cautters recently licensed by WWE. Stopping the release of the game in March 2022, however, allows Visual concepts to make some adjustments by removing certain names and by adding others according to the requests of the WWE.
Hit or miss ?
The release date and the WWE ROSTER of WWE 2K22 would not be the only sensitive topics of the moment between 2k and the WWE. As noted above, The quality for the poor WWE 2K20 has seriously damaged the relationship between the two camps. According to SGO sources, it would now be more difficult to work with the WWE. The first crat league in the world would have indeed clearly known that it expects a better quality product this time.
At meetings between WWE and Take-Two Interactive, the American Catch League would have suggested to various occasions that it might be time to put an end to their partnership. According to SGO sources, WWE would have even suggested that it was approached by other game publishers.
WWE and Take-Two renewed their partnership in 2016 and the current contract is officially long. If the duration of the contract has not been publicly communicated, rumors speak of _six-seven years old. The WWE would have been clear, however, that a new critical and commercial failure at the exit of WWE 2K22 could mark the end of the alliance between the two giants. For the sources of the American site, it does not It should not be necessary for the contract between the two camps to be broken.
According to these same testimonies collected by SGO, this situation would have a significant pressure to the developers of WWE 2K22. Number of its sources, however, indicated that the postponement of the game release to March 2022 reassured them internally since it leaves them more time. This additional time is particularly welcome since many elements of the game are recreated from nothing.
According to them, a good game could restore good relations between WWE and 2K. It remains to be seen if the developers of Visual Concepts will be able to straighten the bar. Of course, all these elements must be taken like rumors. The quality of WWE 2K20, the postponement of the output of WWE 2K22 and the content of these rumors, however, make the completely credible thing. As noted above, it will now take next January to learn more about the game. At least officially.
